Why Do Our Internet Searches Follow us to Social Media?
Technology is great when it works, but technology is also horrible when it doesnt work. There are many pros and cons to our world and how we are slowly becoming reliant upon technology; it sometimes even feels like technology is following us.
One thing that really makes me feel uncomfortable in the technology world is the fact that my Safari searches show up on my Instagram news feed. This seems as if it is becoming an issue among many Instagram users as well as Facebook users.
These apps have the ability to track what you do online without even knowing it. While the intentions of this idea are good, many users are unaware that these apps are doing this in order to consider your interests and incorporate them into your news feed; but instead, many users view this to be creepy as their recent internet searches are following them to their social media pages.
Advertisements on social media pages have now become an essential way of marketing for companies due to the fact that people are constantly in contact with social media. Because of this, there is no way to avoid advertisements on your news feed completely, however, many users would be more comfortable with this idea if there was to gain some form of control between their internet searches and their social media advertisements.
